The purpose of Christ's church is to joyfully build up the body of Christ for the glory of God. Have you given much thought to the first word, “joyfully”? How important is that in part of our purpose? What is the thinking, living, and fellowship that will lead to abundance and overflowing joy?
We’ll see that joy is at the center of the church’s faith and fellowship. It is a major theme that is an effect of the gospel of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. The Christian who abides in Christ is marked by joy. Sometimes joy is absent because of sin and lack of repentance. Sometimes joy is hidden by sadness and depression. Sometimes joy is missed because we we are not living obediently in the way of joyfully building up.
We’ll spend several weeks looking at the many joys of the Christian that make up building up the body of Christ for God’s glory.
