Series Title: Building
Building up the Body of Christ to the Glory of God.
“In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”
Ephesians 2:22 (ESV)
Ephesians is one of those books in the Bible which we really don’t know why or when Paul wrote it. In other words, there is not a major crisis that defines the book. In Ephesians Paul often refers to the whole church, the whole body of Christ.
God has laid a firm foundation of salvation through Jesus Christ in building up the church. But God is not done building and his construction plan is to use the church to build up the church. Jesus has given the church unique gifts to build each other up in Christ (4:12). The church, when working properly, builds itself up in love (4:16). The first three chapters address, largely, what God has done. The last three chapters Paul gives instruction to the church. He answers basic questions of what it means to be a Christian and join in God’s work to build up the body of Christ for the glory of God.
